Bradshaw Conference 2007
in Humanities and Arts at Claremont Graduate University

In the spring of 2007, the annual Bradshaw Conference in Humanities and Arts at Claremont Graduate University will focus on “Politics and Culture.” In the modern period, mass culture seems irreducibly stained with conservative values and beliefs. On the other hand, despite its individualistic forms, avant garde artistic production seem to hold promise of a politically redemptive role for culture. In this conference, we will explore the tensions between these two opposing positions.
