1,784 Achaemenid Persepolis Fortification Tablets


Description:
Archaeologists affiliated with the University of Chicago discovered the tablets in the 1930s while excavating Persepolis. They had been lent to the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago more than 80 years ago for research activities, then became slated to return to Iran. About the Year of Objects' Creation, the tablets date to the tablets dating back to the Achaemenid Empire (550 to 330 B.C.E.).
