A correction was made on April 24, 2014: An article about the Syrian conflict’s threat to the ancient city of Palmyra’s archaeological treasures misidentified the auctioneer that is proposing to sell a cache of medieval Islamic coins. It is VCoin, an online company, not Sotheby’s.
