The most difficult time was when my son was going to enter college. He had a university scholarship, but he was not accepted because his grades were below the university requirements. He was disappointed and came to talk to me. I asked him if he wanted to study and he said yes. But I replied, I don’t have money to pay for your tuition, but if you want to study, ask about expenses and we will ask for a scholarship.

He went to the UCA to do the paperwork directly with them. And the university came to investigate whether we had financial need, and naturally yes, we have scarce resources. And thank God the blessing came, because he was so discouraged and kept saying, “Mom, look at all the students who have better grades than I do.”

And I replied, “Don’t worry, the Lord is going to bless you. If you have the Lord in your heart and you are following him, He will help you, He will bless you.”

I couldn’t pay for a teacher to help him [prepare for the entrance exam]. So he prepared for his entrance exam using YouTube tutorials. And he got a full scholarship. Now I only have to pay for his bus transportation, and the money he needs for his work. And he is thankful to the Lord for this blessing.

I think that we have been blessed for my obedience to my covenants and for my service here in the church. His father did not want to help support him during that time, but I told my son, “don’t worry, that’s why I work. Since I could not go to college, I am going to make sure you have the opportunity.” And he is always grateful to me, because I always support him.
