There’s definitely a male hierarchy and roles require members to fulfill certain gender expectations, like any organization, I suppose. I know of some sisters who questioned priesthood holders about the function and roles on their calling and gave suggestions, even asked about the purpose for them doing something. One priesthood holder said that it wasn’t important and there was no reason to start questioning, just to be quiet and do it.

When one sister talked to other priesthood members in her ward about it, they agreed with her and what she had asked. We all, men and women, believe that this leader had no reason to put her down. I know that we all have different thoughts, personalities, but I think, because she was a woman, maybe this member thought he was above her and that he knows more and didn’t care to hear her out. That sister thought that perhaps this man has the belief that a woman’s more traditional role is to remain silent and follow orders.
