I feel like that’s too personal. It’s something that I’ve been thinking about a lot. I mean when I moved to England the whole reason was … and I guess I grew up more of, “Oh, I want to have a career, and yeah, I guess I’ll have a family someday.” There was a time actually before my mission when I was dating someone and it was really serious, but then he kept talking about children and family life all the time and it just kind of freaked me out. But I think in a way the women’s role is definitely motherhood and it’s really important, but I also think that it’s really important to go to school and be educated and just have those skills and interests of your own so that we can then teach our children.
I think oftentimes we’re very much influenced by the church. I know it’s still our choice, but I think in Young Women it’s the fact that we’re taught to have a list of the things that we want in a future husband, and I think that’s good because we need to have those values. But I think there also needs to be emphasis on skills and education and how that can help us.
I definitely think that throughout my youth I was guided to go on a mission ,but I didn’t see it at the time and going on a mission has really just changed me. I’m really glad that I was able to go to England and study there and then just working and still being able to go to school. I just feel really blessed.
