About us

We are the CGU chapter of Psi Chi. We work to build community among psychology students in the Department of Behavioral and Organizational Sciences to advance the discipline and provide educational and professional opportunities for our students.

Some o of the events CGU Psi Chi hosts thoughout the academic year:

  • Sharing student research and providing networking opportunities (e.g., Student Research Talks, Networking Lunches)
  • Hosting social events for the department community (e.g., DBOS Thanksgiving & Halloween)
  • Building community and supporting First-year students (e.g., First Generation Student Panel, Claremont Colleges Campus Walk)
  • Organizing the 7Cs Psychology Conference that presents student research from the psychology departments across the Claremont Colleges (CGU, Claremont McKenna, Pomona, Pitzer and Scripps)
Why join Psi Chi?

Joining Psi Chi opens up all the member-only benefits of our International Honor Society, such as grants and scholarships, conference sessions,  professional resources and webinars, a psychology job board and a crowd-sourced data collection platform. You join a network of +900,000 members working across all sub-disciplines of psychology and related fields. A Psi Chi membership is must on any professional psychology vita and participating offers leadership and networking opportunities. And most importantly, joining Psi Chi is a great way to be involved on campus and help build our DBOS community!

DBOS Students who have completed at least one semester with a 3.0 GPA can join Psi Chi. We typically welcome new members at our induction ceremony in the Spring semester. Purpose

Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.

MISSION

The Mission of Psi Chi is to produce a well-educated, ethical, and socially responsible member committed to contributing to the science and profession of psychology and to society in general.
