The Future(s) of Cultural Studies: A Faculty Conversation

November 11, 2020
12:00pm – 1:00pm

To celebrate its 25th anniversary this year, the Cultural Studies Department at Claremont Graduate University is hosting a semester-long series of events titled “The Future(s) of Cultural Studies” in Spring 2021.

Events in the series will be organized into five key themes that speak to the idea of Futurity and Future Publics. The department will be hosting events throughout the spring semester connected to the following themes with the specific areas:

Imagining Futurity (Afrofuturism)
Future Publics (Strategies for an Abolitionist Future)
Ecological Futures (Art and Anthropocene)
Future Museum/Museum Future (Decolonized the Museum)
Cultural Studies for the Future (Digital and Public Humanities)

At the November 11th SAH Humanities Forum, the Cultural Studies faculty will introduce these themes in the form of a conversation between the faculty on why they have chosen these themes to represent the future(s) of our field and what we understand them to mean.
