Cláudio and Marisa Cuellar were both converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as youth in Brazil. They married in the 1970s and lived close to the São Paulo temple. Because the São Paulo temple was the only temple in South America for a time, the Cuellars hosted many guests who traveled from all over the continent and needed a place to stay.
Cláudio and Marisa have both biological children and adopted children in their family. They had spiritual experiences around their decision to adopt.
Cláudio has served in many church positions, including as a Bishop, Area Seventy, and First Counselor in the Fortaleza Temple Presidency. He believes strongly in the power of councils. Marisa has also served in many church callings, though her favorite was as an administrator in the Family History Center helping people with tracing their family history and managing the Family History Center’s schedule.
They are enthusiastic about the church. Cláudio voiced his belief that, “We are living in the best time in the world!”
