Basically, I’d say I’ve always been a member of the church because I’ve never attended any other church. Basically, when I went to high school, I was in a boarding school so I could meet kids from other churches. Every Sunday we used to have a session at church service at school, but not from the church— which was very difficult for me. It reached a point that I had to talk to the principal to exclude me from the services because I wasn’t feeling quite comfortable.
It used to be really hard to explain to the children that I’m a member of a certain church. The question was, are you Christians? That is an answer. I always say, “Yes, we are Christians. We know Jesus Christ. We know our Heavenly Father lives.” But to them, they could see there’s a gap or a uniqueness in being a Mormon and being just a Christian from other churches. It was hard for me being in a boarding school and being a member of the church. I never lasted so much in boarding.
